BINC 2011 by JNU-Bioinformatics National Certification Examination
Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC 2011) Examination will be conducted on 26-27 February 2011. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has started BINC examination to facilitate Biotech and Bioinformatics industries and employers for recruitment of trained candidates. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi will act as nodal agency for BINC 2011. Other institutions participating in organizing BINC are Pune University , Pune; West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata; Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore ; Anna University , Chennai; North-Eastern Hill University , Shillong and University of Hyderabad , Hyderabad .
From BINC 2011, the DSBT shall fund all Research fellowships for all BINC qualified Indian candidates. Earlier top 15 candidates only eligible to receive fellowships. Now all BINC qualified candidates can pursue Ph.D. with fellowships in Indian Institutes / Universities. They should have a postgraduate degree and meet the criteria of the specific institutes / universities. Apart from the fellowship, a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- will be awarded to the top 10 BINC qualified candidates.
Eligibility Conditions: Applicants should be Graduate in Science, Veterinary, Medicine, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Engineering and Technology. Applicants need not have any formal training like certificate, diploma or degree in Bio-informatics. Those studying their final year of Bachelor's degree and International students are also eligible to apply.
BINC 2011 examination contains three papers as described below:
Paper I: Objective Multiple Choice Type Paper: 100 questions – 100 marks.
Paper II: Short Answers Type paper: Total 15 questions for 150 marks
Paper III: This is Practicals Paper: 2 questions for 100 marks (It is a computer based practical exam with questions on Bio-informatics).
