Programme: MDS (Master of Dental Surgery)

Duration: The duration of the course is three academic years. The academic year for M.D.S. commences in the month of April every year.

M.D.S. is offered in the following specialities:

• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
• Periodontics
• Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
• Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
• Orthodontics
• Prosthodontics
• Oral Medicine and Radiology
• Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry
• Public Health Dentistry

Eligibility: A candidate for admission to the M.D.S. course (Master of Dental Surgery) must possess a degree  of B.D.S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) duly recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration from any of the state dental council of India. Candidate not possessing a recognized dental qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval regarding qualification by the Dental Council of India before he/she can be admitted to the M.D.S. course.

Selection process: The admission for MDS degree course is based on merit depending on the performance of the candidate in the Entrance Examination. An All India Entrance Examination will be held on February 11, 2012  The results of the examination will be published in the second week of February,2012. Counseling will be held in the month of March.

Venue of the Examination: The Examination will be held in the University Examination hall at the Saveetha University campus, 162, Poonamallee High Road, Chennai - 600 077
